WHAT IS A LASH LIFT?
A lash lift is a semi-permanent lift and curl of your natural lashes.
HOW DOES A LASH LIFT WORK?
A water based adhesive is used to adhere your natural lashes to the shield selected to achieve the amount of curl desired. Using the Sugarlash Pro curl perfect system, the lashes are curled, set and then conditioned with a nourishing lotion.
HOW LONG DOES A LASH LIFT LAST?
A lash lift will last anywhere from 6-8 weeks, depending on the growth cycle of your natural lashes.
WHAT MAINTENANCE IS REQUIRED FOR A LASH LIFT?
Just avoid getting your lashes wet for the first 24 hours post service and try to refrain from sleeping on your face. That’s it, easy peasy!
CAN I STILL WEAR MASCARA?
Yes, just make sure it is not waterproof!
WHO IS THE LASH LIFT FOR?
Babes that want a low maintenance beauty routine without the commitment required for lash extensions. Wake up with perfectly curled lashes everyday!
WHO IS NOT A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A LASH LIFT?
Anyone with an eye infection as well as pregnant or nursing mothers. If you have extremely sensitive eyes, please consult your physician before receiving a lash lift.
WHAT ARE COSMETIC TATTOOS?
Cosmetic tattooing is the process of using a small, sterile disposable needle (both manually and machine) to implant pigment beneath the surface of the skin to enhance facial features with an end result that is soft and subtle.
ARE COSMETIC TATTOOS PERMANENT?
Due to both the chemical nature of the pigments used as well as the inherent technique of cosmetic tattooing the process is intended to be semi-permanent meaning not only will it fade over time as the body naturally metabolizes the pigment but that touch-ups may be required to maintain the desired result. This allows us to adjust the tattoo as facial features can shift and adjust over time. The frequency and amount of touch-ups needed depends on a number of variables including: the pigment color used as lighter colors will fade faster than dark colors, your lifestyle and amount of activity, iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), and if any chemical peels and strong skincare come into contact with treated areas. Please note that we can not guarantee final results as each individual’s skin type will retain and metabolize pigments at different rates. Microbladed hair strokes will heal more crisp on drier skin types and more diffused or blurry on oily skin types. Because of these unpredictable variables we tend to produce a more conservative result for the first treatment and when we evaluate how your skin reacts to both the technique and pigment we can add and adjust density and depth where needed. Cosmetic tattooing is a process of building over time!
Touch ups are normal for cosmetic tattoo procedures, with each new procedure requiring at least 2 visits. The initial procedure is followed by a follow up procedure if needed about after 6-8 weeks.
IS THE TOUCH UP SESSION INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE INITIAL SESSION?
No, the touch up appointment is an additional and separate cost from the initial session. Please refer to our pricing menu for all price questions. Typically one perfecting session is needed after the initial procedure and from there on out annual touch ups are needed however more than one touch up may be required dependent upon a variety of factors including skin type and texture and how your body accepts the pigment.
DO COSMETIC TATTOOS HURT?
While everyone has a different threshold of pain and responds to numbing agents differently we do our best to keep you as comfortable as possible throughout the process with both a highly effective anesthetic cream before the treatment as well as a secondary numbing gel during the procedure. Please be advised that the numbing creams we use contain both lidocaine and epinephrine so if you have an allergy to these ingredients please let your artist know. If you are a frequent smoker, currently on your menstrual cycle, consumed caffeine prior to your appointment or have Fibromyalgia you may be more sensitive to the procedure.
WHAT TYPE OF PIGMENT IS USED FOR COSMETIC TATTOOS?
We use high quality vegan pigments that are specially formulated with the highest lightfastness rating to ensure pigment stability and neutral fading over time. Due to the nature of the technique Microblading tends to heal on the cooler/ashier side so these pigments are specially formulated to counterbalance that coolness while maintaining a neutral healed result. Because of this the brows may appear on the warmer side but once they heal the end result will be neutral.
WHAT FACTORS CAN AFFECT A COSMETIC TATTOO?
-Sun exposure: The sun fades the pigment faster so sunscreen may be used to prolong your tattoo as well as avoiding direct sun exposure to the treatment area.
-The regeneration of skin cells: The longer the regeneration takes, the longer the pigment holds. Anti-aging skincare also speeds cellular turnover, so be sure to avoid having “active” skincare make contact with your brows.
-The speed at which the skin absorbs the pigment: The slower the absorption, the longer the pigment will hold and a variety of factors can affect how each individual’s body metabolizes the pigment including iron deficiencies, auto-immune disorders etc.
-The choice of color: lighter colors tend to fade faster than darker colors.
-The area of treatment: Enhancements to the face, for example, fade more quickly due to constant exposure.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY COSMETIC TATTOO?
HOW SHOULD I EXPECT MY COSMETIC TATTOO TO LOOK DURING THE HEALING PROCESS?
-Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bolder in color, more sharply defined or even have a more filled in appearance. This can last up to a week after the treatment while the initial healing process takes place. You can expect to lose up to 40-60% of the pigmented implanted so if they feel too bold or dark initially be aware that once healed they will appear softer. The area may be slightly red and tender similar to a sunburn.
-As your cosmetic tattoo heals scabbing, itching, peeling and flaking are a normal part of the process. Allow your skin to shed naturally and do not peel or pick at the scabs as this can cause scarring and pigment loss.
-The complete healing process can take about 4-6 weeks after which the true color of the tattoo will settle. During this process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating. As the new skin heals it can have a waxy opaque appearance that makes it seem as if the tattoo has completely disappeared; be patient as the skin regenerates the tattoo will come back to life.
WHAT DOES THE HEALING PROCESS ENTAIL?
We have detailed aftercare instructions on the website that outlines everything you need to know to be prepared to heal your new tattoo but please reach out to us at [email protected] if you have any questions
WHAT IS THE LONG-TERM AFTERCARE FOR A COSMETIC TATTOO?
A good sunscreen applied daily AFTER the healing process on the tattooed area is complete is needed to help keep color true. As with any tattoo, sun exposure will make the color fade faster. You may need a touch-up every 1-5 years. The fading speed depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, iron deficiency, and if any chemical peels were done after cosmetic tattooing.
If you are planning a chemical peel, MRI or other medical procedure, please inform the technician that you have had a cosmetic tattoo. Careful application must be taken to avoid affecting the tattooed area.
If you are planning to have laser treatments, tell your laser specialist to avoid the pigmented area. Laser may cause the pigment to change color.
AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A COSMETIC TATTOO?
We have a full list of contraindications on our pre-appointment pages so please refer to it for more detailed contraindications but if you are pregnant, nursing, have a history of keloids, currently undergoing chemotherapy we are unable to safely perform the procedure.
Be aware that certain skin types are more receptive to microblading than others: drier skin types will retain more pigment and crisper strokes whereas oilier skin types will heal more diffused and blurry. A combination of blading and shading may be a better option for you if your skin is on the oily side.
Certain deficiencies and auto-immune diseases can affect pigment retention and healed results including anemia.
Please email us at [email protected] if you have any questions about whether or not you are a good candidate for cosmetic tattoos.
CAN YOU COVER MY PREVIOUS COSMETIC TATTOO?
In some cases we can revive traditionally tattooed eyebrows but not always. Cover ups depend on the current color, age of the previous tattoo and if excessive scar tissue is present.
Darker previously tattooed eyebrows are harder to cover because the hair strokes we apply disappear into the previous tattoo. Think of this like drawing on black paper with a black pen, you wont see much. If the issue is to adjust the color from blue back to brown, we CAN color correct. We can also make them thicker but they will always be solid where the old tattoo exists.
Pink or orange previously tattooed eyebrows have a better chance for coverage but still can leave us pretty solid depending on each individuals skin. If the old tattoo has left the skin scarred there is a great chance the Microblading will not hold. Scar tissue tends to reject pigment in a lot of cases.
If you need cover up work please email us for a face to face or email consultation. If you want to do an email consult we will need you to send us a photo so we can evaluate your brows.
HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO GET A COSMETIC TATTOO?
You must be at least 18 years old to receive a cosmetic tattoo; we do not accept parental consent.
